iFixit evaluates Apple iPhone Duo repairability and internal display mechanics
Repairability analyst iFixit has completed its teardown of the iPhone Duo, assigning the device a 5/10 repairability score while analyzing its folding screen architecture.

The iFixit teardown reveals that Apple utilizes a matte nano-texture cover on the iPhone Duo’s internal display. Beyond sunlight readability, this layer functions as a structural component designed to scatter light and minimize the visual prominence of the center crease.
Microscopic examination of the display panel identified an arrangement of oval-shaped subpixels positioned at specific angles. Analysts suggest this configuration is part of a broader engineering strategy to manage the physical stress and optical artifacts inherent to foldable screen technology.
Despite receiving a 5/10 repairability score, the device currently holds the highest rating among foldable smartphones evaluated by the platform. This marks a notable, though modest, shift in internal assembly practices for Apple's hardware compared to previous foldable market entrants.
