Illinois American Water Issues Additional PFAS Settlement Credit to Customers

Illinois American Water announced an additional credit exceeding $15 has recently been applied to customer accounts. This latest credit increases the total settlement refunds distributed to customers due to PFAS concerns to over $80 per individual.

The credits are part of a broader settlement agreement addressing the presence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the company's water supply. PFAS are a group of man-made chemicals that have raised environmental and health concerns due to their persistence and potential effects.

Concurrently, the company is continuing its investments in upgrading water treatment facilities across Illinois to address PFAS contamination. These upgrades are part of ongoing efforts to ensure water quality and comply with evolving regulatory standards.
