Illinois Residents May Receive Cash Payment From Class Action Settlement for Skin360 App
Illinois residents who used the Skin360® app or its versions, including Neutrogena® and NeoStrata®, for skin assessments via mobile or web applications between December 9, 2019, and May 5, 2023, may be eligible for cash payments through a class action settlement.
A class action settlement has been approved by the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey concerning the use of the Skin360® application. The case, Helene Melzer, et al. v. Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., has resulted in an agreement offering potential compensation to Illinois residents.
Under the terms of the settlement, eligible individuals who performed a Skin360® skin assessment using any version of Skin360®, including Neutrogena® Skin360®, NeoStrata® Skin360®, and other collaborations, via a mobile or web application while in Illinois between December 9, 2019, and May 5, 2023, may be entitled to cash payments.

Plaintiffs alleged that the app's usage collected and shared user data without proper consent, violating state laws. Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. denies all allegations but has agreed to the settlement to avoid the costs and risks of protracted litigation.
The court-approved settlement administrator has issued notices to all known class members. No determination of guilt has been made; rather, the settlement has been reached to avoid litigation expenses. Final approval of the settlement requires court confirmation, scheduled for a later date.
