Implantica completes initial RefluxStop procedures in the United States

Medical technology firm Implantica AG has performed the first commercial surgical procedures using its RefluxStop device in the U.S. market.

5 November 2026

Liechtenstein-based medical technology company Implantica AG announced that it has successfully conducted the first surgical implantations of its RefluxStop device in the United States. The device is designed to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) by restoring the natural anatomy of the esophageal sphincter.

The entry into the U.S. market marks a transition for the company from clinical trials to commercial availability. RefluxStop aims to offer an alternative to traditional Nissen fundoplication surgery by addressing the mechanical causes of acid reflux without wrapping the stomach around the esophagus.

While the medical device sector remains highly competitive, analysts note that the adoption of new surgical hardware depends heavily on clinical outcomes and reimbursement schedules established by U.S. healthcare payers. Implantica plans to monitor post-operative data to support wider market adoption.
