Implantica Opens 15th RefluxStop Center in Spain
Medtech company Implantica has launched its 15th RefluxStop treatment center in Spain, located at Hospital Universitario Central de Asturias in Oviedo.

Medtech company Implantica has expanded its network by opening its 15th RefluxStop treatment center in Spain. The new center is located at the Hospital Universitario Central de Asturias in Oviedo, a principal healthcare facility in the Asturias region.
The RefluxStop device is used for the treatment of acid reflux. Surgeon Dra. Maria Moreno Gijón performed the first procedures at the hospital. She highlighted the device as a new surgical option for patients who have not found relief through existing treatments or who are unsuitable for traditional anti-reflux surgery.
Implantica's CEO and founder, Dr. Peter Forsell, commented on the expansion, emphasizing the rapid adoption of the technology in Spain. "Fifteen new leading centers of excellence in Spain since launch two years ago is impressive and shows the demand for RefluxStop’s new treatment," he stated.
Acid reflux affects a significant portion of the population, with an estimated 40% not responding adequately to common medical treatments. RefluxStop offers a different approach compared to traditional surgical methods that wrap around the esophagus, aiming to provide a solution for a broader range of patients.
