Implantica, a medical technology company, is scaling up production of its RefluxStop® device, manufacturing 10,000 units in preparation for an anticipated launch in the United States market. This move is contingent upon receiving Pre-Market Approval (PMA) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The company states this strategic production increase is designed to ensure a rapid and scalable market entry in the U.S. and other global markets once regulatory clearances are obtained. By establishing sufficient inventory in advance, Implantica aims to meet accelerated demand without the typical delays associated with production scale-up for new medical devices.
Dr. Peter Forsell, CEO of Implantica, highlighted the significant business opportunity in the U.S. market, where an estimated 20% of adults suffer from acid reflux. He noted that current treatment options are often insufficient, and the scalability of RefluxStop® positions the company to capitalize on this unmet clinical need.
RefluxStop® currently holds CE marking in Europe and is available in several European countries, including Germany, the United Kingdom, and France. The device is not yet available for sale in the U.S., pending FDA approval.
