Impresa Legal Group Files Class Action Over Campaign Against Data Center Industry
Impresa Legal Group has initiated a class action lawsuit alleging that various activist groups and organizations conducted a foreign-funded campaign to disrupt the data center industry in Washington state.

Impresa Legal Group, alongside local counsel, has filed a class action lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington against several organizations and individuals, including Seattle Indivisible and The Proteus Fund. The complaint alleges that the defendants conspired to obstruct the construction and operation of data centers in the region through systematic harassment and intimidation of workers.
The lawsuit asserts that the campaign, which reportedly led to the loss of employment for workers like plaintiff Monte Pringle, was financed by foreign interests, including entities linked to the People's Republic of China, funneled through U.S. non-profits. Legal counsel argues these actions constitute tortious interference with contractual relationships rather than protected speech.
This legal action follows a June 2026 decision by the Seattle City Council to impose a one-year moratorium on new data center developments. The plaintiffs are seeking compensatory and punitive damages, claiming the defendants’ activities have created a climate of fear that has directly harmed the livelihoods of those in the technology and construction sectors.
