In an era of persistent cyber threats, the effectiveness of business security solutions is critical. AV-Comparatives, an independent testing institute, released its latest Business Security Test results in August 2026, evaluating 16 leading endpoint security products under real-world conditions. The testing, conducted between March and June 2026, occurred during a period marked by ongoing ransomware and supply chain attacks impacting businesses of all sizes.
Recent high-profile incidents, such as the March 2026 breach at medical device manufacturer Stryker and a subsequent data theft at Foxconn in May 2026, underscore the vulnerability of even large organizations. These events highlight how a single compromised endpoint or trusted third party can lead to significant disruptions, from paralyzing order processing to compromising sensitive project files.
The AV-Comparatives test examined how well each product defended against live malware encountered during daily web use, as well as pre-existing malware introduced via disk or network. False alarm rates on common business and non-business software were also assessed. A dedicated performance test measured the impact of each security solution on system speed during everyday tasks like copying files, archiving, launching applications, and web browsing.
Kaspersky, Bitdefender, and Elastic achieved the highest protection rate of 99.8 percent across 400 real-world test cases. Elastic demonstrated a perfect 100 percent detection rate in the dedicated malware protection test. ESET and Kaspersky recorded the lowest system performance impact. Fifteen of the sixteen tested products earned AV-Comparatives' Approved Business Product Award for July 2026.
