India Receives First Two Upgraded Mirage 2000 Fighter Jets

Dassault Aviation has officially delivered the first two upgraded Mirage 2000 I/TI fighter jets to the Indian Air Force. The acceptance ceremony was held at Dassault Aviation’s Flight Test Centre in Istres, France, attended by the Indian Ambassador to France, Arun K. Singh.

The contract for the modernization of the Indian Mirage 2000 fleet was signed in July 2011. The initial upgrade phase, which included new equipment from Thales such as radar and electronic warfare systems, saw the first upgraded aircraft complete its maiden flight in October 2013.

Eric Trappier, Chairman & CEO of Dassault Aviation, highlighted the enduring 60-year partnership between the company and the Indian Air Force. He also referenced India's selection of the Rafale fighter and the ongoing exclusive negotiations, emphasizing its alignment with India's "Make in India" policy for local manufacturing.

The program's first phase was completed in France on schedule. The remaining aircraft in the fleet will be upgraded in Bangalore, India, by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) with support from Dassault Aviation and Thales, furthering India's strategic goal of domestic industrial development.
