India to Train One Million Youth in AI, Offer Free Online Coaching

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Independence Day a significant initiative to train one million Indian youth in Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills over the next year. The program aims to equip young people with capabilities needed to lead in the rapidly expanding AI field, focusing on cost, quality, and skill development.

Additionally, the government will launch a free online coaching initiative for students preparing for various competitive examinations. This move is expected to alleviate the financial burden on low and middle-income families often associated with expensive private coaching centers, leveraging India's digital public infrastructure and teaching talent.

Prime Minister Modi also highlighted the crucial role of technology and innovation in India's development roadmap. He identified AI, quantum computing, space technology, and robotics as key areas for growth. The nation is also pushing forward its semiconductor manufacturing capabilities, with plans for multiple new plants.

The government's focus extends to strengthening India's position in global supply chains, particularly in semiconductor production. Modi emphasized India's potential to become a reliable hub for both design and manufacturing, contributing to the country's economic growth and self-reliance.
