IndiaMART InterMESH Limited has approved the establishment of a new lending subsidiary, IndiaMART Finance Limited, designed to provide short-term credit solutions for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This strategic decision, announced alongside the company's first-quarter fiscal year 2027 results on July 21, 2026, aims to facilitate transaction financing on its platform.

According to CEO Dinesh Agarwal, the new entity will collaborate with partner lenders to offer short-term credit products. He explained that the previous system of channeling lending leads to financial institutions has become insufficient due to the demand for faster turnaround times. IndiaMART Finance Limited is intended to bridge this gap, though Agarwal stated the company does not plan to lend substantial amounts from its own balance sheet.

The launch of the lending arm coincides with a reported loss of 1,852 paying suppliers during the first quarter, marking the fourth consecutive quarterly decline. Agarwal acknowledged the ongoing churn, attributing it partly to initial subscription periods. He emphasized that improving customer retention is crucial before focusing on net growth, citing concerns about customer acquisition costs (CAC) and lifetime value (LTV).

In addition to financial services, IndiaMART is exploring new revenue streams. A voluntary paid buyer program is currently in pilot, offering value-added services on top of its existing free access. The company is also testing methods to monetize buyer data through third-party advertising platforms. Furthermore, IndiaMART has introduced bank account verification and a payment protection of up to 500,000 Indian Rupees for buyers engaging with verified sellers to enhance transaction security.
