Indian AI coding startup Emergent has raised $130 million in a Series C funding round, reaching a post-money valuation of $1.5 billion. This represents a five-fold increase in valuation over the past six months.
The funding round was led by private equity firm Creaegis. New investors MNI Ventures-Claypond and Sentinel Global participated alongside existing backers Khosla Ventures, SoftBank's Vision Fund 2, Lightspeed, and Y Combinator. The total funding for Emergent now stands at $230 million.
Emergent aims to capture market share in the competitive AI coding space by targeting entrepreneurs and small to medium-sized businesses that have traditionally relied on less sophisticated tools like email and spreadsheets. The startup offers what its founders describe as a "production-grade application for serious builders," effectively providing an "engineering team in a box."
The company reports an annualized revenue run rate of $120 million, marking a 70% increase in the last four months. Emergent serves over 200,000 paying customers, including businesses in trucking, manufacturing, and property management.
