Indian Industry Confederation Awards Afcons for Environmental Excellence

Afcons Infrastructure Limited has been honored with the Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII) National Environmental Excellence Award 2026 in the Best Environmental Practices category. The award recognizes the company's efforts on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project (Package C-2) and its integration of environmental management into large-scale infrastructure development.

The company states that sustainability is integral to its project execution, focusing on minimizing environmental impact through stringent environmental management, responsible resource utilization, and sustainable construction practices. This recognition highlights Afcons' approach to sustainable infrastructure development and environmental responsibility.

Representatives from Afcons accepted the award at a ceremony in Chennai on October 9, 2026. The project implemented circular economy principles, including recycling concrete wash-out waste for sand, aggregate, and water recovery, reusing tunnel excavation material for segment manufacturing, and treating tunnel wastewater before discharge. The project also maximized natural light through skylights, significantly reducing resource consumption, waste generation, and energy use.
