Indian Startup Sector Q2 Update: Meesho and Info Edge Results

Ecommerce firm Meesho reported a 68% year-on-year reduction in net losses to ₹1.32 Bn for the second quarter of FY27, as operating revenue rose 34% to ₹41.31 Bn. The company attributes the improvement to logistics optimization and AI-driven automation, though investments in emerging verticals such as grocery and financial services continue to impact overall profitability.

Separately, Info Edge announced that CEO Hitesh Oberoi will step down after 27 years, with founder Sanjeev Bikhchandani set to take over as group CEO on December 3, 2026. The company posted an 87% increase in consolidated net profit to ₹6.49 Bn for the quarter, supported by a significant rise in other income.

The broader technology sector remains active. Cognizant is reportedly in discussions to invest in Sarvam AI, a firm whose valuation has doubled in four months. Additionally, Astrotalk reported a ten-fold increase in net profit for FY26, reaching ₹2.22 Bn, while smaller players like Moms Home are pivoting toward quick-commerce channels.
