India's startup funding market experienced a downturn, continuing its decline for the second consecutive week. From August 31 to September 4, a total of $176.5 million was raised by 22 startups.
The healthtech and cleantech sectors were the primary recipients of funding this week, securing a combined $120.8 million across nine deals. These sectors collectively accounted for nearly 68% of the total capital raised by Indian startups during the period.
Healthtech led the funded sectors, with four startups collectively raising $74.5 million. Ultrahuman's significant $70 million round comprised the bulk of this amount. Cleantech followed, with five startups raising $46.3 million, boosted by Yuma Energy's $35 million fundraise.
Other sectors like advanced hardware and technology, and e-commerce, each saw four funding rounds. Early-stage funding remained active, with six startups raising approximately $12 million in seed, pre-seed, and pre-Series A rounds. Investors Equentis and Info Edge Ventures were notably active, participating in two deals each.
