Indian Startups Raised $140 Million This Week
Indian startup funding saw a decline in the second week of August, with Yulu's significant funding round accounting for a large portion of the total. One company achieved unicorn status.

Indian startups collectively raised $139.5 million across 12 deals between August 10 and 14. This figure represents a 44% decrease from the $274.4 million secured by 22 startups in the preceding week.
The majority of the week's funding was driven by electric vehicle company Yulu, which closed a $93 million Series C round. This single investment constituted nearly 70% of the total capital raised by Indian startups during the period. Yulu operates in the clean technology sector.
The fintech sector emerged as the second-highest funded, securing $29 million, primarily through wealth tech platform Centricity's funding round. The advanced hardware and technology sector saw the highest number of deals, with three separate funding rounds across segments like semiconductors and defense tech, though the total amounts were smaller.
Astrology platform AstroTalk achieved unicorn status during the week, surpassing a $1 billion valuation. The funding landscape also saw announcements of new venture capital funds and several acquisitions within the startup ecosystem.
