Indian Startups Raised Over $800 Million in July
Indian startups secured over $800 million in funding in July, highlighted by Skyroot Aerospace's successful rocket launch and AI firm Emergent's $130 million funding round.
The Indian startup ecosystem saw significant activity in July, with local companies raising more than $800 million in funding. A key development was Skyroot Aerospace successfully launching a rocket into space, marking it as the first Indian private company to achieve this feat.
In the artificial intelligence sector, Emergent became India's 132nd unicorn and the third in the AI space. The company's $130 million funding round provided a substantial boost to the ecosystem's overall venture inflow, though the total for July was below June's nearly $2 billion.
Further supporting the technology sector, the Indian government approved significant policy measures. The Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme (MPMS) received a budget of ₹62,500 crore, and the second phase of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM 2.0) was cleared with an allocation of ₹1.28 lakh crore, aimed at bolstering the nation's chip design and fabrication capabilities.
