India's broadband connections surpassed 1.1 billion in August 2026
India's broadband connection base reached 1.101 billion by the end of August 2026, adding 6.73 million new connections. Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel maintained their positions as the top two providers.
India's broadband subscriber base grew to 1.101 billion connections by the end of August 2026, an increase of 6.73 million from July, according to data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
The total number of broadband subscriptions rose from 1.094 billion in July to 1.101 billion in August, marking a 0.61% monthly increase. The total first crossed the 1 billion mark in November 2025.
Reliance Jio remained the largest broadband provider with 538.03 million connections in August. Bharti Airtel followed with 386.39 million connections. Together, these two operators held 83.95% of the total market share.
Mobile broadband accounted for 1.033 billion connections. Fixed-line wired broadband connections stood at 48.63 million, while fixed wireless connections reached 19.34 million.
