Indra Demonstrates AI for Military Threat Anticipation and Decision-Making
Indra Group showcased its advancements in artificial intelligence for military operations through the European Defence Fund-backed FaRADAI project. The initiative focuses on developing frugal, robust, and explainable AI for defense applications.

Indra Group has demonstrated how artificial intelligence can support threat anticipation and decision-making in military operations via the FaRADAI project, funded by the European Defence Fund. The project, named Frugal and Robust AI for Defence Advanced Intelligence, involves 38 partners from 13 European countries and is coordinated by the Hellenic Centre for Research and Technology (CERTH).
The initiative aims to develop AI capabilities that are resource-efficient, resilient, and transparent for defense use. Indra Group led key use cases focusing on sensor resilience, decision-making under uncertainty, and human-machine collaboration, employing a "human-in-the-loop" approach where AI assists human decision-making while maintaining oversight.
Demonstrations included improved interpretation of ground-based imagery to identify vehicles, personnel, and infrastructure, along with threat assessment and dynamic route recalculation for unforeseen situations. This enhances real-time decision-making in rapidly changing operational environments.
Indra's involvement in FaRADAI reinforces its standing in defense AI and contributes to the development of sovereign European capabilities. The company integrates these AI advancements into its broader portfolio, including its IndraMind AI platform and 360-degree vision systems for military vehicles, aiming to boost cognitive superiority and operational efficiency.
