Indra's COMSec Mobile Solution Receives Quantum-Resistant Certification

Indra Group's secure mobile communications solution, COMSec, has received certification from Spain's National Cryptographic Centre (Centro Nacional de Criptografía) for its quantum-resistant capabilities. The certified version, COMSec 5.1, has been added to the country's ICT Security Products Catalogue and is qualified for use in high-level systems under Spain's National Security Scheme (Esquema Nacional de Seguridad), approved for limited distribution.

The new version incorporates post-quantum cryptography (PQC) technologies designed to protect against future threats from quantum computers. These include "harvest now, decrypt later" attacks, where encrypted data captured today could be decrypted in the future once more powerful quantum computers become available. COMSec provides secure voice, messaging, video, and data transfer using end-to-end encryption over commercial operator networks.

Indra stated the certification reinforces its role as a national developer of advanced secure communication systems and its position in post-quantum cryptography. The company is also involved in integrating Spain's national quantum communications network, EuroQCI, and contributes to the IberianQCI project linking Spain and Portugal with quantum communication.

The solution is designed for deployment on a wide range of commercial mobile devices running the most common operating systems. The system transmits communications via IP packets using proprietary encrypted protocols aimed at preventing tracing. Indra emphasized that the new quantum capabilities have been added without impacting user experience or the product's robustness and latency.
