Infineon launches new power semiconductor plant in Thailand

Infineon Technologies announced its new power semiconductor plant in Thailand will commence operations on October 1. The facility, representing a total investment of $1.44 billion (approximately 96.9 billion Chinese yuan), is designed for integrated power semiconductor production and will handle global orders.

Located in Mueang Samut Prakan, south of Bangkok, the plant focuses on backend processes and the production of power semiconductor modules. Construction began in January 2025. The site is engineered for automated and digitalized operations and will utilize 100% green electricity.

The new facility targets key growth areas including electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, and data centers. It is set to become Infineon's third-largest production base for power modules, complementing existing sites in Germany and China.

The project is projected to create 5,000 local jobs. Infineon also plans to implement talent development and local supply chain initiatives to support the facility's operations.
