Infios has announced the successful implementation of a robotics picking solution at Deutsche Telekom's distribution center in Hanover. This deployment utilizes Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) to streamline the company's B2B hardware logistics operations, aiming to enhance both efficiency and scalability.

Infios served as the general contractor, delivering a combined software and automation approach. The core of the solution is the integration of a Geekplus P1200 AMR system, which operates on a "shelf-to-person" principle. These robots autonomously transport shelves, weighing up to 1,200 kg, to designated picking stations.

The system significantly reduces walking distances for staff. Remaining manual processes are supported by "put and pick-by-light" systems to further boost efficiency and minimize error rates. The initial system performance handles 30 inbound and 80 outbound items per hour, with the capacity to scale by adding more AMRs and workstations as needed.

Infios's Unified Control System (UCS) manages the flow of goods, ensuring seamless integration with Deutsche Telekom's existing logistics infrastructure. The Hanover facility specializes in distributing network technology to B2B clients, managing 2,200 stock-keeping units and approximately 2.5 million items. Dirk Raulf, Head of Hardware Service Solutions at Deutsche Telekom Technik GmbH, stated the robot-assisted system reduces employee workload, saves space, and improves operational efficiency.
