Swiss technology company Infomaniak has published a comprehensive guide clarifying the file deletion and trash management features of its kDrive cloud storage service. The documentation aims to help users understand how deleted files are processed and managed.
When a file is deleted from kDrive, it is automatically moved to the service's own trash folder. Emptying this trash folder permanently removes the files, making them unrecoverable. It's important to note that clearing a local computer's recycle bin does not affect the kDrive web service's trash.
The guide specifies a minimum retention period for deleted files in the kDrive trash, set at 30 days. However, this duration can be extended depending on the user's subscription plan. For instance, kSuite Free users have a 30-day period, while kSuite Business subscribers benefit from 180 days, and kDrive Solo, Team, or Pro plans offer up to 365 days.
Infomaniak's guide also outlines the procedures for deleting files via the kDrive web application, the mobile app, and the desktop client. Additionally, it provides instructions on how to adjust the trash retention period within the service's settings, detailing the varying limits based on subscription tiers and the implications of permanent deletion.
