ING Deutschland Invests in Nuremberg Location
ING Deutschland has extended its lease agreement for its Nuremberg site by twelve years, committing a multi-million euro investment for extensive renovations. The move aims to modernize the workplace for approximately 1,000 employees.

Frankfurt am Main – ING Deutschland has extended its lease for the building at Südwestpark 97 (SWP 97) in Nuremberg by twelve years and will invest tens of millions of euros in a comprehensive renovation of the office property. This investment reinforces the bank's second-largest location in Germany and aims to create a modern working environment for its roughly 1,000 employees in Nuremberg.
"The Nuremberg metropolitan region is an attractive location for talent and for us as ING Deutschland, where we intend to grow in the future," stated Norman Tambach, CFO of ING Deutschland. He added that the bank is pleased to have secured a long-term contract with Südwestpark Management, further strengthening its important Bavarian base. "Following the completion of the major refurbishment, our employees will be able to work in a state-of-the-art environment in the summer of 2023."
Extensive renovations are set to commence in the coming months. Initially, the leased SWP 97 building will be gutted and subsequently reconfigured according to a new, modern space concept, including new furnishings. The employee restaurant at the Nuremberg site will also be expanded to offer a variety of freshly prepared meals, fulfilling a long-standing employee request. During the renovation period, ING employees will temporarily relocate to nearby existing and newly leased spaces to ensure continued operational fluidity.
ING Deutschland was among the first major companies in Germany to formalize hybrid work – a blend of remote and office-based work – in a collective agreement in April 2021. This investment represents another significant step towards the future of work, ensuring that the office environment supports collaborative practices, featuring increased meeting rooms, workshop spaces, and open areas for informal interactions.
