ING Deutschland to launch new pension depot in 2027

ING Deutschland will introduce a fee-free pension savings account on January 1, 2027, offering two distinct investment models for private retirement planning.

1 November 2026

Starting January 1, 2027, ING Deutschland will offer a new pension depot service designed to facilitate government-subsidized retirement saving. The service aims to allow customers to manage their retirement portfolios digitally with two main options: an "Aktiv" version for independent investors and a "Relax" version for standardized management.

The bank stated that it will waive all depot management, switching, and order fees. Users will only incur the product costs associated with their chosen ETFs or funds. According to Burcu Civelek Yüce, head of private individuals, the goal is to make private pension provision more accessible by removing cost barriers.

The "Aktiv" depot provides access to over 1,000 ETFs with expense ratios starting at 0.03 percent. The "Relax" depot utilizes two actively managed, globally diversified ETFs with a flat annual fee of 0.20 percent. Both options are compatible with government subsidy programs, which can provide annual bonuses based on contribution levels.

ING intends to support the launch with educational resources, including webinars and digital guides. Furthermore, the bank plans to introduce a digital migration service later in 2027 to allow customers to transfer existing Riester pension contracts into the new system.
