Chinese technology company Insta360 Innovation is reportedly developing new smart glasses with a strong emphasis on photography capabilities. Unlike many existing AI glasses that prioritize voice assistants, this new product aims to meet the needs of content creators by offering convenient, high-quality, hands-free shooting.
The design is expected to incorporate interchangeable front frames, allowing users to customize the glasses based on different scenarios or fashion styles. This approach seeks to position smart glasses as a more accessible and adaptable consumer electronics product, similar to traditional eyewear.
In terms of AI, the glasses are likely to integrate Alibaba Cloud's "Qianwen" large language model. However, Insta360 is also reportedly focused on deploying generative models directly onto the device, indicating a long-term strategy to bring advanced AI capabilities to end-user hardware.
Past patent filings also suggest a design with a separate, wearable battery pack, intended to reduce head weight and improve comfort during extended use. This contrasts with current designs where batteries are integrated into the glasses' temples.
