Intel eyes late 2027 for 14A process risk production
Intel announced it will advance the risk production of its 14A process technology to the second half of 2027, with mass production aimed for 2028.

Intel has accelerated its timeline for the new 14A manufacturing process, setting the start for risk production in the latter half of 2027 and aiming for full-scale mass production in 2028. This marks an earlier schedule than previously indicated.
CEO Pat Gelsinger confirmed the revised schedule during the company's latest earnings call. Risk production is a critical pre-mass production phase where small-scale runs are initiated on a new process to identify and resolve potential issues before large-scale deployment.
Intel's Foundry division reported a 31% year-over-year increase in revenue for the quarter. Existing process nodes, including Intel 7, Intel 3, and Intel 18A, have exceeded their internal production targets.
The 14A process has demonstrated superior defect density and transistor performance compared to the 18A process at the same stage of development. Intel is reportedly satisfied with customer engagement for the 14A technology and is incorporating it into several internal product roadmaps.
