Intel's Nova Lake Processors Pass USB4 and PCIe 5.0 Compliance Tests
Intel's upcoming Nova Lake platform, including the Core Ultra 4000 series processors, has successfully completed compliance testing for USB4 and PCIe 5.0 standards. The release is anticipated in early 2027.
Intel has achieved significant milestones in the development of its next-generation Nova Lake processor platform, with the Core Ultra 4000 series processors successfully passing compliance tests for both USB4 and PCIe 5.0 standards.
The USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) and the PCI-SIG, the organizations responsible for setting and certifying USB and PCIe standards respectively, have listed components related to Intel's Nova Lake platform. This indicates readiness for integration into new devices. USB-IF has confirmed that Nova Lake-H mobile processors (device IDs D331, D333) meet the USB4 80Gbps specifications. On the desktop side, the Nova Lake PCH-S chipset (device ID 6E6E) has been approved for USB 3.2 Gen2, supporting data transfer rates up to 20Gbps.
PCI-SIG's integrator list has included the 900-series chipset for Nova Lake-S processors since April. In early August, an unidentified Intel processor (device IDs D461, D465, D467 to D46A) also passed a PCIe 5.0 x16 test. Intel is leveraging similarity certification programs to streamline the process for related products, although each distinct product requires its own certification.
These completed compliance tests are standard procedure ahead of a new product launch. Based on current information, Intel's Nova Lake processors, including the Core Ultra 4000 series, are expected to be released in the first quarter of 2027. This timeline allows Intel to finalize development and prepare for mass production and market release.
