Intensified Competition in Auto Industry: Six New Car Launches in One Day
A representative from Chinese automaker Leapmotor stated that the density of new car model launches surpasses that of the mobile phone industry. On July 16th, six new car models were launched in China.

The intensifying competition within China's automotive sector was highlighted on July 16th, with six new car model launches occurring on a single day. This frequency underscores the heightened competition in the industry, a pace that Leapmotor's Senior Vice President, Xu Jun, described as exceeding his previous experience in the mobile phone sector.
Alongside Leapmotor, other automakers such as Li Auto and Xpeng also held launch events on the same day. Xu Jun commented that while the competition is fierce, the simultaneous nature of these launches also signifies the robust development within China's new energy vehicle (NEV) segment. "A single flower doesn't make spring; a hundred flowers in full bloom bring spring to the garden," he noted, referencing the sector's rapid growth.
"The fact that we can launch together indicates the vigorous development of China's new energy vehicles," Xu Jun continued. He expressed a desire for healthy competition where companies can learn from each other and collectively advance the progress of China's entire NEV industry. He also suggested that industry players should collaborate to reach global markets.
The day's launches included Leapmotor's B01 and B10 models, Wey V9X, IM Motors LS9 Hyper, Xpeng Mona L03, the new generation Li L6, and Wuling Starlight L. Additionally, two other automotive-related events took place: Geely Galaxy unveiled its new "Thunder 16-in-1 Smart Electric Drive" system, and GAC Group celebrated reaching 30 million users.
