The International Jazz Festival Saalfelden has selected its "Jazz Wines" for 2017. The festival's success is attributed not only to contemporary jazz and experimental musicians but also to two carefully chosen Austrian wines, a tradition upheld for ten years.
The selection process involves members of the "Club of Friends of the Jazz Festival Saalfelden." These passionate jazz listeners met on May 9, 2017, at the establishment of sommelier Georg Fürstauer to taste and evaluate Austrian wines. Twelve wines, comprising six white and six red, were tasted.
This year, a 2016 Grüner Veltliner and a 2015 Zweigelt 'Heideboden' emerged as the top choices from the strong competition. The festival emphasizes that the selection aims to complement the artistic quality of the music with fine wines.
