International Logistics Group Acquires Global Freight Solutions
Logistics firm International Logistics Group (ILG) has acquired Global Freight Solutions (GFS), a provider of delivery technology and services. The acquisition aims to enhance ILG's fulfillment and delivery offerings.
International Logistics Group (ILG) announced its acquisition of Global Freight Solutions (GFS) on February 23, 2024. GFS specializes in Enterprise Carrier Management (ECM) and provides delivery technology and services, working with over 1000 shipping lanes across more than 220 countries.
The acquisition is intended to strengthen ILG's fulfillment and delivery capabilities by integrating GFS's technology. GFS, founded over 20 years ago, offers automated multi-carrier shipping solutions for e-commerce businesses, aiming to improve customer experience from checkout to delivery and returns.
According to ILG, GFS's technology complements its own services by enhancing the online shopping experience. The combined entities will employ over 600 staff across 16 sites in the UK and EU. Mike Stephenson, ILG Chairman, stated the acquisition will differentiate ILG's offerings and power its market expansion.
ILG and GFS will operate as independent businesses in the short term, with plans to integrate GFS's delivery technology into ILG's services in the near future.
