The Force Feedback technology is designed to increase surgeons' intra-operative awareness by allowing them to feel the forces exerted on tissue through the da Vinci 5 console's hand controls. A real-time force indicator will also measure these forces.
Alongside the Force Feedback instruments, Intuitive is introducing over 100 updates and user experience enhancements for da Vinci 5 users in Europe. These advancements leverage the system's significantly increased computing power, representing the ongoing evolution of Intuitive's most advanced surgical system. The company states this is part of its vision for a future-ready platform that can adapt to the needs of surgeons, patients, and healthcare systems.
Intuitive reports that more than 11,700 da Vinci surgical systems are in use worldwide, with over 21.8 million procedures performed. The company aims to integrate data from across the surgical experience, including video, instrument motion, and force feedback, to build the foundation for next-generation AI-powered capabilities.
