Intuitive expands surgical robot offerings with SureForm staplers

Intuitive Surgical has launched its SureForm™ staplers, designed for use with the da Vinci surgical systems. This new product line aims to enhance surgical outcomes by incorporating advanced technology.

The SureForm staplers feature SmartFire technology, which monitors tissue compression at over 1,000 measurements per second. This system makes automatic adjustments to optimize the stapling line and aims to prevent tissue damage across a range of tissue thicknesses. The staplers also offer a 120-degree range of articulation, allowing for improved access to tissue in its natural position.

Available in 45 mm and 60 mm stapling line lengths, the SureForm staplers also introduce black reload cartridges to the da Vinci Stapling portfolio. The 60 mm version has a 55 mm cut line, while the 45 mm version has a 40 mm cut line. Both models' reloads include six rows of staples and a new knife with each reload.

These devices are designed for single-patient use and operate through a 12 mm cannula. Intuitive Surgical is a leader in robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery, and these new staplers are intended for procedures in general, thoracic, gynecologic, urologic, and pediatric surgery.
