Intuitive launches da Vinci SP surgical system

Intuitive has launched the da Vinci SP surgical system, engineered for robotic-assisted surgery through a single incision or natural orifice. The system is intended to empower surgeons to develop new surgical approaches that preserve healthy tissue and aim to improve patient quality of life.

The da Vinci SP is designed for precision in compact surgical spaces, differing from the company's multiport systems which are suited for larger cavities. Its adoption has grown in procedures such as extraperitoneal prostatectomy and natural orifice surgery, including transoral and transanal robotic surgery. Surgeons are increasingly utilizing da Vinci SP for urology, thoracic, colorectal, and head and neck procedures.

The system features a 3DHD endoscope and advanced software for enhanced visualization, aiding surgeons in identifying critical anatomy.
