Intuitive, the company behind the da Vinci surgical robot system, has released its 2023 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report. The report outlines the company's progress in establishing its ESG infrastructure and measuring advancements.
CEO Gary Guthart stated that the report builds upon the previous year's foundation, measuring progress against identified metrics.
Key areas highlighted in the report include maturing clinical evidence for meaningful patient outcomes, understanding and reducing carbon impact, and driving responsible growth. Intuitive emphasizes its commitment to reducing its own carbon footprint and assisting customers in lowering carbon usage in healthcare delivery.
The company is focusing on developing products and services that improve patient outcomes and experiences. Intuitive is also planning to adopt the "Quintuple Aim" principles in 2024, which include equitable access to care, in addition to previous focuses on better outcomes, patient experiences, care team experiences, and lower costs.
Notable recognitions mentioned in the report include being named "Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion 2023" and appearing on the "Top 250 Best-Managed Companies of 2023" list. Since 1997, over 14.2 million procedures have been performed using da Vinci systems, with more than 8,600 systems in hospitals across 71 countries.
