Intuitive Surgical has introduced the da Vinci Xi, a fourth-generation robotic surgical system aimed at improving flexibility and surgical access for minimally invasive procedures.

The new system offers expanded anatomical access and enhanced ease of use, integrating advanced da Vinci technology into a modular and adaptable format. It features 3DHD vision and wristed instruments designed to provide greater range of motion for surgical tools.

The da Vinci Xi boasts boom-mounted arms with multi-position joints to maximize the surgical workspace. This allows surgeons greater positioning capabilities from a single cart, enabling easier operation across multiple quadrants and facilitating a wide range of minimally invasive procedures.

Intuitive Surgical developed the system in collaboration with surgical teams to streamline robotic-assisted surgery. The Xi system includes a guided setup process and integrates the ERBE VIO dV generator directly into the surgeon console for fine-tuning energy output.

The system is also compatible with existing da Vinci instruments and incorporates features such as Firefly fluorescence imaging for vessel and tissue visualization, as well as Da Vinci Stapling for controlled suturing.
