The SureForm stapler incorporates SmartFire technology, which monitors tissue compression before and during firing. This system makes automatic adjustments to optimize the staple line, performing over 1,000 measurements per second. This is intended to help achieve a consistent staple line and manage tissue effectively, potentially reducing surgical risks.
According to the company, the stapler offers a 120-degree cone of articulation, providing greater maneuverability than some previous laparoscopic staplers. Testing data released by Intuitive suggests the SureForm device forms optimally shaped staples in thick tissue at a higher rate compared to competitors like Echelon Flex, Endo GIA Ultra, and SIGNIA.
Intuitive Surgical suggests that the SureForm stapler's consistency across various tissue thicknesses could lead to fewer unanticipated reloads during surgery, potentially resulting in cost savings for healthcare providers.
