The document, adhering to the NHS's "Procurement Policy Note 06/21," details Intuitive Surgical Ltd's baseline emissions for 2021, measured in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e). The total emissions for the baseline year were 2,506.3 tonnes, comprising Scope 1 emissions (71.4 tCO2e), Scope 2 emissions (19.2 tCO2e), and a substantial portion from Scope 3 emissions (2,415.7 tCO2e).
Scope 3 emissions, which encompass categories such as transportation, waste generated, business travel, and employee commuting, represent the largest component of the company's carbon footprint. Intuitive Surgical Ltd has pledged to update its plan at least annually and publish it on its website, demonstrating ongoing progress and commitment to emissions reduction.
