Intuitive Surgical, Inc. has issued a privacy policy for its IRIS mobile application, detailing its practices for handling user data. The policy, last updated April 16, 2019, specifies that it applies to personal data collected through the IRIS app and its associated website.

The policy states that users must be at least 13 years old to use the app and that no information is collected from individuals under 13. It outlines the types of personal data collected, such as names, email addresses, and IP addresses, which are voluntarily provided by users. The app also utilizes cookies to understand user engagement with the associated website.

Intuitive Surgical asserts that it does not sell or rent personal data to third parties. However, data may be shared with affiliated companies or third-party service providers contracted to assist with app services. The company may also disclose data if required by law, such as in response to legal processes or court orders.

The IRIS application allows users to access a hospital's patient database to request three-dimensional images from CT scans. This process involves a third-party service provider that de-identifies the scans before Intuitive generates the 3D image. The data is then re-identified by the third party and made available through the app. Data is encrypted and stored on the device.

Users can manage cookie preferences through their browser settings, though the company does not support the 'Do Not Track' browser setting for the app or its website. The privacy policy is subject to updates, with notification provided to users.
