Intuitive has released da Vinci OS5 v2.0, an update for its robotic-assisted surgery platform. The new features aim to increase operating room efficiency and improve surgeon connectivity.
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – September 2026 – Medical device company Intuitive has launched da Vinci OS5 version 2.0, the latest update for its da Vinci 5 surgical system. This software update introduces new features designed to enhance operating room efficiency and improve connectivity for surgeons and healthcare teams.
The da Vinci OS5 v2.0 includes a simplified login feature for surgeons. Using the My Intuitive app, surgeons can now log into the da Vinci 5 system with a single tap of their phone on the armrest. All system activity is automatically synchronized with the surgeon's Case Insights profile, allowing quick access to procedural insights post-operation.
The update also introduces the new Tower Camera feature, expanding visibility to the entire operating room. This camera allows remote viewers to observe the room setup and care team with pan and zoom controls. They can toggle between the in-console view and the room view to gain deeper clinical and situational awareness.
Intuitive previously stated that the da Vinci 5 hardware and software were engineered with significantly increased computing power to enable innovative capabilities at launch and allow for future advancements. The v2.0 update reportedly demonstrates this commitment to improving patient care through ongoing system development.
