Investor Harry Stebbings Regrets "996" Work Culture
Venture capitalist and 20VC podcast host Harry Stebbings has reversed his earlier commitment to "996" working practices, stating he regrets the approach.

Harry Stebbings, founder of media and investment firm 20VC, has expressed regret over his past endorsement of the "996" work culture. Stebbings, also the host of the 20VC podcast, shared his changed perspective at the Sifted Summit, stepping back from his previous advocacy for intense working hours.
The "996" model refers to working from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., six days a week. Stebbings acknowledged that this demanding work ethic, which he once supported, has led to several mistakes and "ill-advised consequences" throughout his career.
Stebbings made these remarks during an interview where he reflected on his past methodologies. He stated that while he previously believed in the benefits of such an intensive work model, he now holds a different view. He characterized his prior stance as "naive" and admitted it was ultimately ineffective.
He indicated that his future focus will be on fostering a company culture that prioritizes well-being and balance. Stebbings established 20VC, which has invested in numerous companies, and has interviewed many entrepreneurs on his podcast. His earlier support for the "996" culture sparked considerable discussion, and his recent comments signal a shift in his viewpoint.
