Investors seek lead role in Bank of America securities class action

A securities class action has been filed against Bank of America, alleging the company misled investors regarding the adequacy of its compliance controls between August 1, 2025, and October 13, 2026. Law firm Hagens Berman is currently seeking lead plaintiffs to represent shareholders who suffered losses following revelations of systemic regulatory failures.

On October 13, 2026, U.S. regulators imposed over $1.2 billion in penalties against the bank for failing to detect and report more than $5 billion in suspicious transactions. The disclosure led to a 4.8 percent decline in the bank's stock price the following day. Critics, including Senator Elizabeth Warren, have since urged the Justice Department to pursue criminal investigations into the bank’s executives.

The lawsuit asserts that the bank prioritized revenue over necessary compliance infrastructure, rendering earlier public statements regarding risk management false. Interested investors must file for lead plaintiff status by December 15, 2026.
