Iowa adds Community Health module to statewide EMS registry
The State of Iowa has expanded its contract with ImageTrend to include the Community Health module in its statewide EMS and Trauma Registry. This move aims to enhance community health monitoring and reduce emergency department utilization.
Eagan, Minn. – The State of Iowa has updated its data system contract with ImageTrend to incorporate the company's Community Health module into the statewide Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Trauma Registry. This enhancement is supported by a $65,900 federal grant from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) awarded under the Rural Health Transformation grant.
The Community Health module is designed to document home visits, chronic disease follow-up, telehealth engagements, and high-utilizer outreach programs. Iowa plans to use these capabilities as part of its Healthy Hometowns initiative. The integration is expected to strengthen statewide data collection and improve outcome measurement.
By implementing this module, Iowa aims to reduce emergency department utilization and better support maternal and community health initiatives. ImageTrend, founded in 1998, provides software solutions for over 9,000 emergency response and healthcare agencies, focusing on improving outcomes through data analytics and AI-powered tools.
The company's broader suite of software solutions assists fire, EMS, and hospital segments. The addition of the Community Health module signifies a move towards a unified documentation platform for Iowa's EMS-led Mobile Integrated Health demonstration projects across the state.
