Apple's iPhone Mirroring feature, allowing users to control their iPhone directly from a Mac, has been significantly enhanced with the release of iOS 27 and macOS 27. These updates introduce practical improvements aimed at streamlining the user experience. Notably, users can now access and interact with the iPhone's Control Center directly from their Mac, a capability previously unavailable. Additionally, the feature now supports the playback of DRM-protected content, such as videos from services like Netflix, on the Mac interface.

The window management for the mirroring session has also been refined. iPhone Mirroring offers more flexible resizing options beyond the previous limited presets. This allows for a more customizable display of the iPhone interface on the Mac, provided the specific application is optimized for iOS 27 and Apple's hardware. With these additions, the feature is considered largely complete in terms of core functionality.

Despite the enhancements, a few minor issues persist. Access to the iPhone's Notification Center from the Mac remains unsupported, as Apple believes notifications relayed to the Mac are sufficient. Authentication within sensitive applications, such as banking apps, also shows variability, with some allowing Face ID requests to be redirected to Touch ID on the Mac, while others still require a PIN entry.

Crucially, iPhone Mirroring continues to be excluded from the EU market. While Apple has not provided an explicit reason, industry observers suggest the company fears potential regulatory action from the European Commission. This could involve mandates to provide similar remote access solutions to competitors if the feature were enabled within the EU. The availability of iPhone Mirroring within the EU remains uncertain.
