Ipsos Poll: Majority Support Nidal Hasan's Execution, But Oppose Livestreaming

A recent ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll conducted in October 2026 indicates that a majority of Americans favor the execution of Nidal Hasan, the perpetrator of the Fort Hood shooting, but strongly oppose making the event a public online broadcast.

The survey found that 52% of respondents support the execution of Nidal Hasan. Twenty-five percent opposed this measure, while 23% were undecided or offered no opinion.

Furthermore, a significant majority, 80% of those polled, believe the execution should not be livestreamed online for the American public. Only 17% found the idea acceptable, with 3% not providing a response.

The poll was conducted by Ipsos in collaboration with ABC News and The Washington Post, surveying 2,545 U.S. adults. The findings reflect public sentiment on the matter, with a clear preference against public broadcast of such an event.
