Ipsos Survey: Asia Most Excited About AI, Youngest Understand It Best
A global Ipsos survey reveals Asia-Pacific residents are the most excited about AI products and services. Younger generations show the highest understanding of AI.

A global Ipsos AI Monitor 2024 survey indicates significant regional differences in attitudes and understanding towards artificial intelligence (AI). Residents in the Asia-Pacific region express the highest excitement for AI-powered products and services, with an average of 62% of respondents showing enthusiasm. China (80%), Indonesia (76%), Thailand (76%), and South Korea (73%) lead this trend.
In Asia-Pacific, AI is anticipated to profoundly change lives, with 73% of respondents believing it will significantly impact them within the next 3-5 years, compared to 60% in North America and 59% in Europe. This excitement is balanced by apprehension, as 53% of global respondents are excited about AI products, while 50% admit to feeling nervous.
Overall, 67% of respondents across 32 surveyed countries report a good understanding of AI. This comprehension is notably higher among younger demographics, with 72% of Gen Z and 71% of Millennials feeling they understand AI well. In contrast, only 58% of Baby Boomers share this sentiment. Despite this general understanding, only 52% of all respondents can identify products and services that utilize AI.
The study also found that most people perceive humans as more likely to discriminate than AI. In 29 out of 32 countries, more respondents believed humans would discriminate against others than AI would. Despite rapid advancements in generative AI, attitudes range from excitement to nervousness and concerns about job displacement, particularly among younger workers.
