Global optimism for the year ahead has increased, according to Ipsos' 'Predictions 2025' report. The survey, which polled respondents across 33 countries, found that 71% expect 2025 to be a better year than the current one. This marks a slight rise from the previous year but has not yet returned to pre-pandemic levels.

Economic outlooks present a mixed picture. While a significant majority anticipate challenges, with 79% expecting prices to rise faster than incomes and 74% foreseeing higher taxes, concerns about rising interest rates have diminished. Only 61% believe interest rates will increase, a decrease from the prior year's findings.

Expectations surrounding technology remain divided. Sixty-five percent fear that artificial intelligence (AI) will lead to job losses, contrasting with the 43% who believe it will create new employment opportunities. Concerns about climate change persist, with 80% anticipating an increase in global temperatures.

The survey also highlights a general unease regarding global security, with potential threats of pandemics and nuclear conflict being noted. Societal anxieties, including expectations of increased immigration and ongoing gender inequality, are also reflected in people's outlook for the upcoming year.
