iQIYI Denies Rumors of Ad Feature Requiring Users Not to Blink
Chinese streaming service iQIYI has refuted claims of a new ad feature that reportedly would require users not to blink during advertisements.
Chinese streaming service iQIYI has denied reports of a new, intrusive advertising feature. An online screenshot depicted an iQIYI interface showing a "Don't Blink" prompt, stating that the system would restart ads if a user blinked.
The alleged prompt read: "The system cannot determine if you missed the advertisement when you blinked. To ensure the advertisement is played in its entirety, it will restart from your last blink."
Responding to the online circulation, an official iQIYI spokesperson, using the handle @桃厂上线了, posted on social media. The statement clearly stated: "During the holidays, stop the pranks and spreading rumors!"
This response suggests iQIYI considers the screenshot and related claims to be false and fabricated. The company is likely aiming to correct misinformation and prevent potential reputational damage.
The incident highlights ongoing user concerns about the intrusiveness of digital advertising and strategies streaming platforms might employ to guarantee ad viewership.
