Iren Energia adopts Board platform for data insights

Iren Energia, an energy production company operating 30 power plants across 14 markets, has implemented the Board Enterprise Planning Platform to improve its data management and decision-making processes. The company previously relied on manual processes and spreadsheets, which became inefficient as its scale and complexity grew.

The transition to Board's platform enables real-time data processing, moving away from cumbersome spreadsheets. This shift allows Iren Energia to generate daily reports, compare actual performance against budgets and forecasts, and enhance its planning and control functions. The increased data transparency and real-time insights are intended to improve operational efficiency and agility in the dynamic energy market.

Previously, the manual nature of planning hindered timely insights and effective responses to market fluctuations. Following its public listing, Iren Energia partnered with Board and Bios Management in 2012 to deploy the Board Enterprise Planning Platform. This initiative aimed to streamline reporting, automate processes, and provide unified data from all 30 plants.

The platform has streamlined economic and financial planning, including Capital Expenditure (CapEx) management. By centralizing financial data, Iren Energia expects to achieve better control over resource allocation and track performance against strategic goals using an integrated Balanced Scorecard. This data-driven governance is designed to support faster, more informed decisions in the volatile energy sector.
