iRobot unveils Roomba Duo concept: two robots in one
iRobot has unveiled the Roomba Duo concept at the IFA tech show in Berlin. The device combines a heavy-duty floor washer with a smaller robot vacuum cleaner.
iRobot revealed a concept device named Roomba Duo at the IFA technology show in Berlin, integrating two robotic floor cleaners into a single unit. The new device aims to enhance home cleaning by offering both a powerful washing function and a smaller robot vacuum capable of cleaning tight spaces.
The main unit is designed for washing and sweeping larger floor areas. When needed, the smaller, slimmer robot vacuum mechanically detaches and lowers to clean hard-to-reach spots, such as under tables or in corners. The Duo also functions as an autonomous mobile dock, equipped with tanks for clean and dirty water, as well as a dust bag.
Navigation relies on lidar and camera technology, enabling the device to map homes, avoid obstacles, and detect dirt. iRobot indicates the Roomba Duo is intended to provide a more comprehensive and automated floor cleaning solution for households.
